Lucy's second painting for Blenheim Palace depicts a stunning Golden Ball, with lots of interesting guests in front of the beautiful palace. The deep blue sky really brings out the palace's golden hue, and lights up the dancers and their friends. This painting was inspired by the renowned parties of Consuela Vanderbilt at the house. We'd love to be invited to this party!
Blenheim Palace is a magnificent country house situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England. It is home to the Dukes of Marlborough, and is the only non-royal non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace! It is one of England's largest houses, and was built between 1705 and 1722. Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
Lucy was inspired by the beautiful grounds and house and the magnificence of the setting, as well as the details of the palace and ground, and has captured them in this work. The original work hangs in place at Blenheim Palace.
